Aid and Attendance is the most common name of the lesser known Improved Non-service connected VA pensions. It is a special Veterans pension available through and awarded by the Veterans Administration to eligible veterans and their surviving spouses. It was created in 1952 as part of Title 38 of the United States Code and as a congressional law, cannot be changed significantly unless by an act of Congress.
The VA Aid and Attendance pension is retroactive back to the month following the month of submission. Therefore, all out-of-pocket care expenses after the month of application will be reimbursed upon award of the Aid & Attendance pension.
