Did the veteran serve on active duty at least 90 days, one day of which was during war time, with a regular or honorable discharge? (Click here to view applicable war time periods. Those serving as Merchant Marines or in the Coast Guard during WWII may also qualify.)
Does the claimant have an ongoing, significant medical diagnosis requiring assistance of another person, which can be verified by their physician in writing? (Please email us if you are not sure if your diagnosis qualifies.)
Are the claimant's monthly long term care expenses exceeding their available monthly income; are their liquid assets (cash, personal accounts) too low to compensate for more than a few months? (There are various approaches to these calculations, please email us before ruling out eligibility.)
If under the age of 65, is the claimant receiving SSI (Supplemental Security Income) due to their inability to engage in any significantly gainful employment (therefore permanently unemployed) due to their ongoing medical diagnosis?
